Horsepower is useless if you can’t get it to the ground. As you tune your engine for more boost and torque, the factory drivetrain often becomes the first point of failure. At Two Step Performance, we supply reinforced drivetrain kits, clutches, and shifting hardware to handle high-horsepower builds reliably. Whether you are fixing a slipping clutch on your Civic Si or eliminating gear grind on your Integra, we have the proven solutions.

High-Performance Clutches & Flywheels

When you exceed stock torque levels, the factory clutch will inevitably slip. We carry industry-leading kits from ACT, Exedy, and Clutch Masters designed to hold significantly more power without sacrificing drivability.

  • Type R Retrofit (1.5T Upgrade): For 10th Gen Civic 1.5T owners, we highly recommend the RV6™ FK8 Clutch Retro Flywheel. This allows you to install a robust Civic Type R clutch onto your 1.5T engine, providing massive holding capacity and a factory-like pedal feel.

  • Lightweight Flywheels: Reduce rotational mass for faster revving and improved throttle response.

  • Street vs. Race Discs: Choose between organic discs for smooth daily driving or 6-puck ceramic discs for aggressive track use.

Precision Shifting Upgrades

Does your shifter feel sloppy or loose? Eliminate the "mushy" feeling of stock components with precision hardware from Acuity Instruments and Hybrid Racing.

  • Short Shifters: Reduce throw distance by up to 40% for lightning-fast gear changes.

  • Shifter Bushings: Replace soft-rubber factory bushings with rigid aluminum or Delrin to eliminate play and crisp the gate.

  • Detent Springs: stiffen the side-to-side movement of the lever for a more mechanical, engaged feel.

Hydraulics & Lockout Prevention

High-RPM shifting often leads to "gear lockout" in modern Hondas due to weak hydraulics. Upgrade your system to ensure consistent engagement every time.

  • Stainless Steel Clutch Lines: Prevent line expansion under heat and pressure, delivering a direct pedal feel.

  • Upgraded Master Cylinders: Products like the Wunderladen Racing CMC eliminate the internal delay valve found in stock units, allowing for faster fluid transfer and preventing 2nd gear grind.

FAQ

Why is my stock clutch slipping after a tune?

Factory clutches are designed for stock power levels. Once you increase torque with a tune (like TSP Stage 1), the stock pressure plate's clamp load is often insufficient, leading to slip.

What is the "Type R Retrofit" for the Civic 1.5T?

This is a popular upgrade that uses a special flywheel (made by RV6) to allow the larger, stronger clutch from a Civic Type R (FK8) to fit onto the 1.5T engine. It offers the best balance of high holding power and daily driving comfort.

Will a short shifter damage my transmission?

No. A properly installed short shifter simply shifts the gear lever's leverage point, requiring less hand movement to change gears. It does not negatively impact the transmission internals.

Do I need a new flywheel when replacing my clutch?

It is highly recommended. Resurfacing dual-mass flywheels is complicated and often unreliable. Replacing the flywheel ensures a fresh friction surface for the new clutch disc, preventing chatter and premature wear.
