What it does
The head studs hold the cylinder head to the block. Factory hardware was specced for factory boost, and once you go past that, clamping force is the thing standing between you and a lifted head.
These are ARP2000 studs. That's an alloy steel heat treated to a higher level than 8740 chromoly, capable of a clamp load at 220,000 psi, and used widely in short track and drag racing as an upgrade from 8740 in both steel and aluminum rods.
The studs are undercut, which eliminates stress risers and distributes load through the length of the stud rather than concentrating it. That matters on an aluminum block and head, where thermal expansion is working against you every heat cycle.
The catpaw washers are textured on one side so they don't slip on the machined aluminum head surface during install. A washer that turns while you're torquing is how people accidentally overtorque.

Before you buy
How do I torque these?
Follow our 1B1 install method guide. It walks through the sequence and the torque steps, and the assembly guide is in the box as well. The kit includes ARP's assembly lubricant, which the torque figures depend on. Read it before you start rather than partway through.
I'm replacing a head gasket. Do I need these?
If the head is coming off, this is the moment. You'll never have easier access to those fasteners than right now, and going back in with studs is the difference between doing the job once and wondering about it later. A lot of the people buying this kit are doing exactly that job.
Do I need to be running big boost for these to be worth it?
No. Plenty of these go into cars that aren't chasing a number. If you're past factory boost, or you've already had a head gasket go, the clamping force is what you're buying.
Can I see the install guide before I buy?
Yes. The full 1B1 method guide is on our site, and the installation guide is also in the product photos above if you'd like to look it over first.
What does the warranty cover?
One year from the date of purchase. If something goes wrong inside that window, message us with your order number and a photo and we'll take it from there.
Are these actually ARP?
Yes. Custom manufactured by ARP to our spec, made in the United States, and exclusive to TSP. ARP is the standard in automotive performance fasteners, which is why we went to them instead of having something made to look the part.
