Two Step Performance · Intake Coupler Upgrade

One Piece

2023+ Honda Civic Type R · 2024+ Acura Integra Type S

The factory connection is garbage.

The TSP intake coupler upgrade, a single piece of black 4-layer silicone with polished clamps

Why bother

Three pieces where you only need one.

Honda connects the intake to the turbo inlet with, as they write it, a “Jet Purge Air Flow Joint Assembly” — part number 36175-66V-A01. For simplicity, we will refer to it as the EVAP valve. The design works, and it is cheap to produce at a large scale, which was Honda’s point. Below are the diagrams from DreamShop that show exactly what components are involved in this particular case. We are looking at #15 on the first image, as well as #2 and #11 on the second.

The factory Honda intake coupler assembly: rubber bellows, clamps and the plastic EVAP elbow
The factory assembly

As you may notice, every joint is a clamp… and every clamp is somewhere a leak can start. The 3-piece plastic elbow is the part people notice first, usually because it’s not the prettiest thing to look at. The other part that people notice, especially those that regularly modify their vehicle, is that it’s an entire assembly. So, let’s say that you snap one of the ports on the OEM EVAP valve during an install — now you must purchase that entire assembly as one piece.

While the ports most likely won’t snap anytime soon, plastics as a whole do get brittle with age and heat cycling. That is where we stepped in. Both issues are resolved with a coupler that not only makes your engine bay look way better but is also less prone to breaking down over time.

What you get

Silicone, billet, and titanium.

Silicone is the right material for a part that lives between a turbocharger and an engine. It stays flexible across a temperature range where plastic becomes brittle, it absorbs some of the engine’s movements instead of transmitting it, and the four bonded layers hold their shape over time. The last part is particularly important for boosted applications regarding parts like charge pipes — you don’t want the pipe to balloon, so to speak. Plastic doesn’t usually fail dramatically, but it does get old and crack… usually at the most inconvenient time.

The EVAP valve moves from plastic to an anodized billet aluminum adapter, machined from solid rather than molded. We like to really think out our products here at TSP, and we decided that throwing in some of our titanium hardware was worthwhile to prevent any potential corrosion.

The part everyone asks about

No check engine light. No tune.

Produce the EVAP valve incorrectly, and the car will tell you all about it on the dash.

Our billet EVAP valve adapter is placed exactly where the factory elbow put it, with the same diameters for the hoses. The ECU reads what it expects to read, so there’s no check engine light, and no tuning required.

Pick your version

Find your setup, take that part number.

The coupler bridges your intake and your turbo inlet pipe, so the version you need depends on what is on either end of it. Every combination below has been confirmed on a car.

The install

Four clamps and a light touch.

The factory assembly comes out, this goes in its place, and the EVAP hoses connect to the billet adapter via two supplied titanium screws. No cutting, no drilling, nothing to splice. This is a very simple bolt-on installation that should take no more than about 10 minutes with basic hand tools.

Hand tight is enough

  • Hand tight only on the screws and the worm gear clamps
  • This is not a pressurized connection, so it does not need force to seal
  • Titanium and carbon will bend or crack before they give you any warning

Before you buy

How hard is this install?

Straightforward. The factory assembly unclamps, this clamps in, and the EVAP purge valve moves to the billet adapter. This is a very simple bolt-on installation that should take no more than about 10 minutes with basic hand tools.

The only thing to be careful about is how hard you tighten it. Hand tight is enough. It is not a pressurized connection, and titanium and carbon will bend or crack before they give you any warning.

Will it throw a check engine light?

No. The billet adapter keeps the EVAP valve in the factory position, so the ECU sees what it expects. No tuning required either.

Which version do I need?

It depends on your intake and whether you have changed the turbo inlet pipe. The options on the product page are written as combinations, so find the one that matches both ends of your setup.

If you are unsure, send us a photo of your engine bay and we will tell you which one.

Does it fit an inlet pipe that is not listed?

Possibly, but we would rather confirm than guess. Send us a photo of your engine bay with what you are running and we will tell you which version fits.

Will this fit anything other than the FL5 and DE5?

Not currently. It is designed around the 2023+ Civic Type R and the 2024+ Integra Type S.

What is the warranty?

1 year, plus support if anything comes up during install or use.

Whatever intake and inlet you are running, we would like to see it. Every combination looks a little different, and a page full of the same setup only tells you so much.
