If you’re looking for yet another way to personalize your 1981-LHD or 1981-RHD shifters for the 11th Gen Civic and 5th Gen Integra, our spring upgrades are a great way to do it. The 1981-S01 spring has approximately 15% less centering preload than the factory-equipped spring. In contrast, the 1981-S03 spring offers approximately 15% more centering preload than the factory-equipped spring . If you find the centering force on your 1981 shifter to be a little lighter or stiffer than you’d like, one of these spring upgrades may be a good option for you. Like the spring it replaces, this version is zinc coated for corrosion resistance and features padded spring sleeves for quiet, reliable operation.
Note: For use with 1981-LHD and 1981-RHD shifters only. Not compatible with OEM shifters.
Expect a modest but noticeable change in centering force. If using 1981-S01, your shifter will still center effectively on its own, but you’ll have to exert less force to reach the far left or right gears like 1,2, 5, 6, and R. If using 1981-S03, your shifter will center more aggressively after installing this spring and a small amount of additional force will be required to reach left/right for gears 1,2,5,6, and R.
