The PTP Civic Type-R Inlet Pipe Blanket is designed to limit the amount of heat that is transferred from your turbocharger to your inlet pipe that sits just above it. By limiting this amount of transferred heat, intake temperatures will be much cooler entering into your turbo.
Constructed with an outer layer made from pulverized volcanic lava rock (Rated 1800F Direct Heat / 2500F Radiant Heat) formed into fabric and woven into a tight mesh weave, these turbo blankets are internally insulated with high temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool (Rated 1832F Continuous / 2300F Peak) overlaid with a high temperature stainless steel mesh for increased durability and improved thermal resistance. The Lava Turbo Blankets are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
Every PTP Turbo Blanket is hand-crafted in North America, and quality is guaranteed. PTP Turbo Blankets is well known in the heat insulation industry for its high standards for material selection, design, and construction. Our materials are on the cutting edge of heat insulation technology. With the growing amount of imitation turbo blankets on the market, it's important to note many of them are manufactured using inferior materials for construction. Imitation turbo blankets can be ineffective, or worse, they can be dangerous if flammable materials are used.
This is a must, if you don't have the factory heat shield on. Please note that it does make contact with the turbo blanket (if you have one on) just a tiny bit, but I don't think it's a problem. I'm currently running the heat-wrapped USR catless DP, no factory heat shields. Along with the PTP turbo blanket and factory intercooler. No heat issues, IAT 1&2 are very similar to my buddy's FK8 without any blankets, but with both heat shields, heat-wrapped PRL catless DP and an Injen intercooler.
