Customer service is not good

I purchased a spec stage 2+ kit but then decided to go a different route. I emailed Daniel about returning it, and he said he would ask the distributor if it could be returned. They have since ghosted me for multiple weeks and will not respond to my emails. I really wish TSP had a phone number because I want to talk to somebody.

So let me save everyone some trouble who did their research.

Spec really outdid themselves from when they first started manufacturing these til now. A while back I had one in my 2017 Honda Civic SI and absolutely HATED how it felt, their customer service was atrocious back then and I ended up going back to a OEM clutch.

Fast forward to recently. A friend of mine told me to give them another shot and that they had improved DRASTICALLY in their materials and how they talk to their customers. I started off ordering a stage 1 clutch and flywheel combo because I DEMOLISHED my OEM clutch. After a week or so of emails between Corey and I wondering when my part was going to ship, I ended up calling them (Spec), and had the pleasure of speaking with Dan.

Dan had informed me that it would be two months before I would even see the part because the flywheel was back ordered. However after I explained my circumstances, Dan really helped me out and it went a long way. He searched high and low through the warehouse to see which part would fit my car that he currently had in stock, and had it packed and ready to ship same day.

Little to my knowledge I was not getting what I ordered. Rather than a stage 1 kit with the steel SMF for the SI, I would receive the stage 2 type R kit with the steel SMF conversion (Type R to SI).

Installation was perfect and everything fits like a glove. The clutch itself really holds onto everything with no slipping or noticeable chatter. You will not be disappointed in this product.

Features an integrally molded carbon Kevlar-based, high performance organic lining that offers smooth engagement and excellent life. This lining has an integrally bonded steel backing for strength under high clamp loads and temperatures. Stage 2+:

Features a multi-friction disc in a full faced configuration with carbon semi-metallic on one side and Kevlar on the other. Bridging the gap between stage 2 and stage 3, the 2+ offers drivability and engagement quality characteristic of the stage 2, but with a 15-20% higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, autocross, road racing, pulling, rally and drift.

Features a carbon semi-metallic 6 puck sprung hub disc that has been the leading puck clutch in drivability, life and torque capacity. This unit is designed for street and race cars that require an aggressive but streetable engagement and high torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Also available in 3 puck configuration. Great for street, drag, road racing, pulling, rally and drift.

The flagship stage for a high powered street or race car that requires a manageable and friendly engagement, the stage 3+ features a carbon semi-metallic full faced material that offers unparalleled life, friction co-efficient and drivability characteristics in one single package. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, drift, autocross, road racing, pulling, ralley and drift.

Stage 4:

Street, Drag, Pulling, Autocross

This unit is a solid hub version of the stage 3. The hub is solid 8-rivet and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. It is available in a 3, 4 or 6 puck configuration. Use the 3 puck for the lightest option or the 6 puck for the smoothest engagement. The 4 puck is a good compromise for both. Street drivable in 6 puck configuration, but not street friendly due to the rigid hub. Best for drag racing, road racing, pulling, rally and drift.

Features a full-metallic disc with the highest possible friction co-efficient. Street drivable but not street-friendly. The hub is solid 12-rivet and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. Best for extreme street and drag racing.

SPEC reserves the right to examine any part returned for warranty claim to determine whether a defect in materials or workmanship exists in such product. SPEC liability is limited to repairing, replacing or crediting towards other product, and credits will not exceed the invoice total for the parts. Labor and storage charges are not products of SPEC and, therefore, will not be reimbursed for any reason. Final determination of the condition and suitability of the parts for uses contemplated by the buyer is a sole responsibility of the buyer. INSTALL NOTES: Unless using a new flywheel provided by SPEC, existing unit must be resurfaced prior to installation of the clutch product to ensure integrity of friction surface. Owner must also break in the new high performance clutch for a minimum of 450 miles, primarily city and/or stop-and-go driving, before full throttle engagement, drag launching or speed shifting. * FAILURE TO EXECUTE EACH OF THE ABOVE WILL HINDER CLUTCH PERFORMANCE AND VOID ALL WARRANTY!!! Unless otherwise instructed by written notice from SPEC, follow manufacturer’s instructions when installing clutch and flywheel products. SPEC recommends that all bolts be inspected before re-installation, and any bolts that have been removed and re-torqued multiple times replaced. SPEC will not warrant any component failure due to install error.

Best first mod

Easy to install very sturdy upgrade sounds rly good

Not For a Novice

I'm going to start with what I didn't like. 1. The gasket needs beefing up, & I feel like the 2 halves should come assembled. 2. It requires the bracket to be bent downward underneath the A/C line, if you are installing on my DE5. The entire assembly needs to be pulled forward to clear the hardlines behind the tank. 3. The Radium clamp left a leaked at the radiator connection. 4. It would be a cleaner look if the vent hose angled or pointed in a direction away feom the engine.
Now, what I like. The 2 halves give it a cleaner & more engineered appearance vs PRL my second choice. The view window is a great touch & makes a visual easy. It has a small footprint & is well built.
Overall, this is a good addition to my DE5. Injust plan on ordering service supplies in case it leaks due to my assembly. Despite my gripes, I'd still recommend it.

Unbelievable

I genuinely cannot believe the difference this paired with the intercooler makes. You can feel the car breathing better. IATs dropped over 30%. Phearable stage 4 tune makes it come alive. Highly recommend

Ktuner with Stage One plus tune

I’ve really been enjoying my tuner these past few days and I really never want to go back to stock. Also, when I needed my free TSP tune the support team was so quick to take care of it!
