Before this build, I had a lineup of Hondas that I customized one by one: a Civic Vi-RS, a CR-V RD1, another CR-V RD7, and finally a 2012 Honda Fit RS JDM. Each one taught me something new and fueled my passion for building unique projects. This time, I wanted a car that could work for both family life and my love for modifying. Something practical, but still crazy enough to turn heads. So I thought...what if I built the first CR-V styled like a Type R? A family car on bags with the spirit of Honda performance.

The Build Journey

It all started with air suspension. From there, the ideas just kept growing. I didn’t want just another CR-V on bags and wheels. I wanted to push it further, to make something nobody had done before.

Today, the car is packed with modifications. Inside, I’m running FK8 Type R seats with a belt bar and Takata harnesses, a custom suede-lined interior, a carbon fiber steering wheel, and even a starlight roof. The trunk is fully customized. Outside, it wears a full Mugen-style body kit, carbon fiber fenders and lips, 356mm Airtekk brakes with 6-piston calipers, and 21x10.5 GMR three-piece wheels.

Under the hood, there’s a PRL intercooler, PRL inlet pipe, charge pipe, Takeda intake, carbon fiber hardware from Chasing Js, and more small details I can’t even list. My personal favorite parts are the Type R seats and the engine bay; they’re the craziest parts of the build so far.

I plan to add a KTuner soon and see what kind of power it can make. If budget wasn’t a limit, I’d go even further: manual transmission, forged engine, bigger turbo - the works.

The Experience

What I love most about this CR-V is that I can still use it as a daily. It’s comfortable, has plenty of space, and everywhere I go people are shocked to see something so unusual. The hardest part is that the CR-V doesn’t have much aftermarket support, so almost everything has to be custom or adapted from other cars. Every modification has been done by me, which makes it even more meaningful. I work seven days a week, so time is always against me, but little by little I keep pushing forward.

Memories & Recognition

One of the best moments with this build was when someone I’ve followed for years (who has a crazy project of their own) walked up to me and said my CR-V was the wildest one they had ever seen. That kind of respect means a lot.

This year I’ve already hit three great events, and next month I plan to show at Elite Tuner in New Jersey. Every event reminds me why I love this community. Whoever says they weren’t influenced by car culture is lying...it’s the reason we all build.

Final Thoughts

To me, this CR-V is more than just a daily driver. It’s a mix of everything I love about Hondas...a “CR-V Type R” in spirit. My friends and my own hard work made it possible.

People might see it as just a car to get from point A to point B, but for me, it’s turned from a daily car into my daily happiness.
